Matt and Joy Burke
Matt and Joy Burke
From the moment of his salvation at the age of 8, Matt felt God’s strong call to join Him in His mission for the nations. During a missions trip in his late teens, God affirmed this call and Matt committed to pursue overseas ministry. After high school, Matt set about preparing for a career in missions. He married Joy, majored in international ministries at a great missions training school, read everything he could find on the topic, and completed an extended ministry internship in Africa. It seemed as if everything was in place, but then God made him and his wife Joy wait. Matt is so thankful for those years, because they caused him to fall at God’s feet and confess his desperate need for Him. Matt now serves in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda working with local university students at Kampala International University to create disciples and spread the gospel in Africa.
Joy grew up in Kenya and considered Africa to be home. She accepted Jesus at a young age and had a desire to be involved in missions for as long as she could remember. Her hope and prayer is that God will be able to use her to share His love to those that she comes in contact with. She is so thankful that God has opened the doors for Matt, Judah, Lily, and her to serve Him in Uganda. She is currently working to minister to refugees who have come to Uganda from neighboring countries.

How we can help
1. For the combination of Matt and Joy’s ministries, that the Christians students from KIU would begin to reach out to the refugees in Kampala.
2. The Burkes are still in need of some recurring financial support.
